As most of you know, I was planning on spending next semester in Kenya as a continuation of the FYM program. We were all very excited about this chance to follow God into the slum of Kibera. However, due to the continuing violence over the elections, this trip is for the time being canceled. I ask for your prayers for the Kenyans. Pray for their government, that they would resolve the conflict and restore order and democracy. Pray for the economy as the violence has destroyed markets and the instability has hurt all aspects of the economy. Pray for the people, that they would be peaceful, and would find God during this time of unrest. I ask that you would pray earnestly for God's presence, for his protection, mercy, and grace! If you are interested in supporting the Kenyan people during this time, AIM is taking donations in order to purchase food for those in Kibera. You can access this page through the AIM homepage at www.adventures.org. Also I encourage you to read the news on Kenya and pray through the information that you receive! This is a tragic event, and as the church we have so much power through prayer! I recommend reading the news from BBC and CNN.
This also means that our team will not be returning as expected. I am waiting on new updates on the status of our trip, but for now, we will be going to Swaziland instead of Kenya. Please pray for us as we all try to process the situation and are dealing with a wide range of emotions. Pray for guidance and provision for all of us, and for discernment for our leadership! I will try and keep you all updated about the situation, and thank you for all of your support!
Praise God that He has the whole world in His hands!
