This week has been full of ups and downs. I have visited the Children's Cup Clinic twice and am very excited about the work that they are doing there. I am trying to find ways to encourage and support them. They treat many different conditions and love and give compassion through this service! It has been a blessing to see the way that Teresa, the nurse, loves the children and is Jesus with flesh on.
Then on Wednesday, I watched a little girl named Pepe. She is a little girl with HIV who is very sick. She and her brother have been living with their father, but he is unable to give them proper care. Her brother is now in the hospital, and Pepe is very sick with not only the virus but also with other problems. She can't keep food down because she is coughing so hard and she is therefore loosing precious weight rapidly. Because they were so sick and were likely to not make it very long if they remained at home, Children's Cup is caring for them now. Today they are trying to find a home for them, and I pray that it all works out.ย But to get back to the day, I was watching her so that Susan and Teresa with Children's Cup could go to work.
Pepe is 12 years old but because of AIDS looks to be around 6. Her eyes show the wear of her life, and she is in so much pain and hurts so much on the inside as well. She is given great medical treatment through the Baylor clinic, but the treatments cause her stress and it leaves her feeling bad. As I watched her, I realized that this is the state of Swaziland. Beautiful children are suffering from a horrible disease. She never asked for any of this in her life, most of those she has loved have been taken away in one way or another, and it breaks my heart. I ask that you lift her and all those like her up. Pray for comfort and healing, pray for peace and hope, and pray that the Lord will reveal his love to her. My prayer is that she would know the love of Christ and know that she is special! My heart is hurting for all those suffering in this nation, and I know that only the Lord can heal this land! Join me in praying for this nation! 2 Chron. 7:14
There is an AIDS clinic on Monday that I will be helping with, please keep it in your prayers as well! Also please pray for discernment about a project in the rural community that we might join in! May the Lord bless you all! I would love to hear how things are back home, so update me if you have a chance.
Blessings,
Carrie
